Epoxy injection concrete crack repair
Epoxy injection systems use low-viscosity epoxy resins injected under pressure into cracks in concrete. The resin flows into the crack plane, bonds to concrete faces, and cures to a rigid material that can restore monolithic behavior along the crack path where conditions allow.
Epoxy injection is a crack treatment, not a waterproofing membrane and not a substitute for addressing active water flow without appropriate pretreatment. Product selection, viscosity, and injection pressure follow manufacturer data and project specifications.

When This System May Be Appropriate
Epoxy injection may be appropriate when concrete is sound, the crack is not actively moving, and specifications call for rigid bonding. Another material or sequence may be more appropriate when:
- Water is actively flowing. Polyurethane or other leak-control injection may precede epoxy.
- The crack is moving or working. Flexible grout or joint systems may be considered.
- Concrete is deteriorated or unsound. Cementitious repair may be required first.
- Chemical or immersion exposure requires a protective lining or coating over the repair
- Engineer evaluation has not confirmed that injection is appropriate for the element
Limitations & Selection Factors
- Substrate condition: deteriorated, contaminated, or unsound concrete limits bond
- Active water: flow through the crack may prevent proper resin cure and travel
- Movement: ongoing crack movement can re-open a rigid epoxy repair
- Crack behavior: wide, filled, or indeterminate crack paths affect resin travel
- Water chemistry and surface contamination: oils, laitance, and efflorescence affect adhesion
- Access: port drilling and surface sealing must reach the full crack length
- Cure time: temperature and crack width affect working time and return-to-service
- Service environment: chemical exposure may require compatible epoxy systems or overcoating
- Structural requirements: load and performance criteria are engineering determinations
- Manufacturer instructions and engineer specifications where applicable
